Welcome to the Garfield
Administrators and teachers consistently work to update district curriculum and develop programs to remain on the cutting edge of educational issues. Staff development and support are extensive and on-going throughout the school year. Our schools have strong and supportive parent associations and an active educational foundation that enhance the mission of our district. The relationship between the schools and community is excellent and lends to the overall sense that Garfield is a great place to live and work.

District
Technology Fair: Garfield's First Technology Fair was held on March 22, 2012 at the Middle School. Families, students, staff and community members attended this great event. This was a district wide fair which allowed students from Prek-12th grade to display technology projects. Student led workshops were provided to parents and gave a hands on experience on the latest technology in our schools. Vendors such as Verizon Wireless, Samsung, and Keyboard Consultants exhibited their products and allowed attendees to interact with some products such as the Android Tablet. Giveaways were provided to everyone in attendance and door prizes such as an IPAD and netbook were raffled off to families donated by local businesses and vendors. It was a great opportunity to showcase all the technology teachers and students have access to and use daily. We look forward to the next Technology Fair for the 2012-2013 school year. v Parent Tech Night: Parent Tech Night was held at Schools 6, 7, 8, & 10 in the months of October and November. Parents were invited to learn about Internet safety, resources on the district website and the many online educational resources their child can use for homework help or just for fun. Parents were able to explore these resources in the computer lab during this hands on workshop. They also were given a tour of district online subscriptions such as Study Island and Discovery Education that students use in school. It was a great success. Future Tech Nights are in the planning stage for the remainder of the school year.
v Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights: Beginning September 2011, the Garfield School District will be implementing all procedures required by State Law on Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying. The Garfield School District prohibits all acts of harassment, intimidation, and bullying of any pupil or other person. Learn about the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act. v Active Living Resource Center,
